About this eBook

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I’d have a chance with my best friend’s hot, straight, older brother.

Kelly… I need a boyfriend to take along on my family vacation to keep my mom from trying to play matchmaker all the time so I ask my best friend’s straight older brother Dean if he’ll pretend to be my love interest. I’ve had a crush on him for years so I’m understandably over the moon when he says yes.

Dean… I’m torn when my baby brother’s gay best friend asks me to be his plus one on his family trip. On one hand, hey, free vacation, but on the other hand, I’ll be sharing a bed with another man. He says all I’ll be expected to do is hold his hand on occasion and occupy the other half of a king-size bed… but you know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men…

This is one of my favourite tropes to read, so I was really looking forward to reading it. I so wasn't disappointed! It was absolutely amazing to read and I really loved the characters. Kelly is such a sweetheart and I felt for him with what he had to put up with. So, I loved how Dean was like his Knight in shining armour. He originally helps Kelly because his brother, who is Kelly's best friend, needed him to help Kelly out. He obviously is skeptical at first to pretend to be Kelly's boyfriend, but he eventually agrees. As they get to know each other the sparks are flying. You can see a real connection between them and it develops as they get to know each other. Kelly's mother is a real piece of work. She thinks she's being nice, but she's just a bigot, who can't admit her son is gay. What kind of mother brings a women on all the summer breaks to try and make him straight. I loved that Dean was there to help him when he needed it and was always on his side. The scene in the backyard with the security camera is so funny. I'm glad they didn't rush into the sex and actually wait awhile. But when it did happen it was hot and steamy! He was so brave with how he handled it mother and at least he has an amazing supportive dad and brother. I loved the ending and especially what the last page told us. I would of loved to of read about it! Kelly really deserved a happy ending after everything he went through and I'm so glad he got it. This is the first book I have read by this author but it won't be the last. I really enjoyed this book. This is the story of Kelly and Dean. Kelly is a high school graduate who is counting the minutes until he moves to New Orleans with his best friend Nathan to begin college life. Fourth of July is coming up and each year Kelly and his family spend a week at the lake in their cottage. Kelly has been dreading it because each year his Mom invites a different girl who she is sure will make Kelly realize that being gay was just a phase! Like that happens everyday. Usually his best friend Nathan stays with Kelly to run interference and protect him from his mom. This year at the last minute, Nathan has to cancel. His car has broken down and in order to get it fixed so that they can go to college he has to work for his day everyday until they leave. Now wanting to leave his best friend in the lurch, he offers up his big brother Dean. Dean owes Nathan a favor and Nathan is cashing in. Kelly runs over to Dean's work to meet him as he leaves. He is embarrassed but desperate so he explains the situation to Dean. Dean knows that Kelly is his little brother's best friend but they don't really know each other very well. Kelly sells it as a week at the lake with minimal PDA. Thinking about Kelly's mom and how he is now on vacation with nothing to do, he agrees. This is their story. As they get to know each other, the relationship grows. It is a sweet love story. The quality of the story deserves 5 stars but due to the behavior of Kelly's mom I dropped it down to 4 stars. I found her behavior too over the top and it distracted from the story for me. If you have an open enough relationship with your son so that in his early teens he tells you he is gay; how could you do such a complete roll reversal as he is leaving for college? While a distraction, it didn't stop me from enjoying the story. Once I started to read it, I couldn't stop. I finished it in one sitting. Listen to the question, before you say yes! Nathan and Kelly have graduated and are on their way to a school in New Orleans They plan on getting their own place, to avoid returning home for family visits. Kelly, is out and proud but his Mom is in denial. She dedicates her life to finding a 'girl' for him. Nathan, offers up his brother, Dean who owes him a favor. Dean's girlfriend, Carla dumped him and went on vacation without him. They were goind to celebrate, Dean's promotion and raise before moving in together. So, he's free. He is 7 years older than the boys, but he still remembers what it is to be on the precipice of college. Dean agrees to help out before he knows 'exactly' what he's agreeing to. Once he learns the context of the trip, will he agree? How does he handle the concept of being a man's boyfriend? How does he handle Kelly's Mom? The guys are funny together, they are also sweet and delicious! I would have liked a smoother ending, but still a nice story. Well done!
