John R. Schermerhorn Jr is the Charles G. O’Bleness professor of management emeritus in the College of Business at Ohio University. John earned a PhD in organisational behaviour from Northwestern University, an MBA (with distinction) in management and international business from New York University, and a BS in business administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He previously taught at Tulane University, the University of Vermont, and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, where he also served as head of the Department of Management and associate dean of the College of Business Administration.
Management educators and students alike know John as the author of several leading international textbooks, including Exploring Management and Management 10th edition, and as a senior co-author of Organizational Behavior 10th edition and Core Concepts of Organizational Behavior. John has also published numerous articles in leading management journals and is a member of the Academy of Management.

Paul Davidson is deputy director of the Project Management Academy at
the Queensland University of Technology. He has 30 years university teaching experience and more than 100 academic publications, including nine books, to his credit. He has studied and taught at the University of Queensland, the University of Birmingham, the University of Geneva, the University of Otago, Stanford University and Southern Cross University. He has degrees in science (psychology), theology and business administration. In addition, Paul has also consulted and taught nationally and internationally to both public and private sector organisations, including the Sheraton Hotel Group in Asia, Royal Dutch Shell in The Netherlands and the United States, and extensively to the Royal Australian Navy, in Sydney. He has been a visiting professor in management at Reims Management School in France, Jyväskylä Polytechnic in Finland, Euromed Marseille in France and at the University of Texas in the United States.
His doctoral research was in the area of management education and development, and his current research interests are in the development of management competencies and international human resource management, and in project management. Prior to his academic career, Paul was an offi cer in the Royal Australian Air Force and a clinical psychologist. Between academic appointments, he has been chief executive offi cer of a company with some 650 employees. He was a state councillor (1994–2007) and president (2000–05) of the Australian Human Resources Institute in Queensland, and chairman of its National Accreditation Committee (2004–10), as well as being a fellow of the Australian Human Resources Institute. He is also a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

David Poole is a lecturer in the Department of Business at Macquarie University. Prior to this appointment, he owned a retail business, served as chief executive offi cer of an industry association and worked as a senior lecturer in management at the University of Western Sydney. He has also worked as an adjunct lecturer at business schools in Australia, China and the United States, and taught in Vietnam and Hong Kong.
David has a BBus, MBA, MEdAdmin and PhD. His research interests include public sector management, university management, organisational behaviour and business strategy. David’s research has been published in journals including Management Today, Leading and Managing, Higher Education and the International Journal of Public Sector Management. He has co-authored several popular management texts and is currently working on a book about the lessons to be learnt from some of the world’s business and political leaders, entertainers and sports identities following times of failure and disappointment. He is also a member of the National Executive of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management.

Alan Simon is an associate professor in management in the University of Western Australia’s  Business School. He has nearly 30 years university teaching experience and more than 70 publications to his credit, including several books and monographs. He teaches introductory management (for which he won an Excellence in Teaching Award in 2007), managing organisational change, strategic capabilities and organisational success, and business research methods at the University of Western Australia. His doctorate was awarded by Rhodes University and in it he developed a new method for conducting research.
Alan has consulted widely to industry and government and he worked and consulted for the P&S Business Consulting Group in Melbourne for many years. He has also delivered several short courses on management, both in Australia and overseas. His client list, to name a few, includes the Australian Institute of Management, Comcater, Barclays Bank, Lend Lease, Pioneer Concrete and Holden’s Engine Company. He is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management and the British Academy of Management.
He has played and coached cricket, played rugby union and still plays competition squash. He is also a boating enthusiast, holding an offshore skipper’s ticket.

Peter Woods is a lecturer in the Department of International Business and Asian Studies, Griffith University Business School. He has won a number of Griffi th University teaching awards and was part of the team that won an award at the Australian Awards for University Teaching for the ExcelL intercultural skills training program. Peter has also served as academic fellow at the Griffi th Institute of Higher Education, helping academic staff to improve teaching in the multicultural classroom. He specialises in teaching introductory management, international human resource management and strategic management.
Peter has provided training and management consultation to a number of organisations, including Queensland Rail, the Australian Air Force Cadets, BHP Billiton, the Queensland Premier’s Department and Teen Challenge Queensland. Before joining Griffi th University, Peter worked for a number of years helping to establish the Multicultural Community Centre in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley. He played an important role in establishing the Asia Pacifi c Institute, a college specifi cally aimed at training students in multicultural church ministry. Prior to this, he worked at a number of hospitals as a supervising medical social worker, specialising in rehabilitation and aged care. Peter is a member of the Academy of Management, the Australia and New Zealand Academy of Management and the Australian Human Resources Institute.
Peter received his PhD in 2007 after researching ‘Cross-Cultural Performance Management in the Expatriate Context’. His research interests include cross-cultural management, Chinese leadership, performance management, diversity management and teaching in the multicultural context. He is conversant in Mandarin and Bahasa Indonesia and has more than 20 academic publications to his credit.

So Ling Chau is a senior lecturer and director of the Business Administration Program at the Hang Seng School of Commerce in Hong Kong. She has more than 15 years teaching experience, including in-house training and teaching in other universities and educational institutions. She specialises in teaching business administration, human resource management, management fundamentals and organisational behaviour.
So Ling completed her doctoral degree in organisational learning and was a Best Doctoral Paper Award Finalist at an Asia Academy of Management Conference. Her research interests include organisational learning, knowledge management and organisational behaviour. So Ling’s articles on management and learning capabilities have been published in academic journals and magazines. She is a co-author of several management textbooks and is currently also serving as a reviewer for some academic journals.
