Ace is laying low, working on a ranch, trying to hide from his past. Being an Outcast, he has to because he's wanted by the organization. His boss's daughter, Charlotte or as she demands to be called, Charley, is always under foot. As he's told her many times, he's not her babysitter. She talks to, or appears to talk to, all the animals and according to her, he's her new "best friend". She's annoying and runs wild around the place, add on the fact that she's has a mind of her own, a knack for trouble and doesn't listen! So why does he feel so protective of her? After an attack on the ranch, he believes her dead and he's captured. Fast forward twenty-five years. Charley's all grown up and runs an animal rescue. She has memories and flashes of people and events from her past but her father tells her what she thinks she remembers, never happened. The man she remembers never existed. Yet she knows better, she could never forget what she saw or her best-friend. Oh but fate strikes again !

Loved it! Life has a way of circling back around and what was once a danger is still a danger. Twenty-five years ago, Ace was certain he failed in protecting his boss's 4-year-old daughter.
