About the author

Hilda Elsie Marguerite Patten CBE, née Brown (November 4, 1915 - June 4, 2015), was an English home economist, food writer and broadcaster. She was awarded an OBE in 1991 for services to the Art of Cookery and a CBE in the Queen's 2010 Birthday Honours. Patten was the author of more than 165 cookery books, which sold over 17 million copies worldwide. She died on June 4, 2015, at age 99.
