I was fortunate enough to have read the first book Security Risk in Megan Matthews Pelican Bay security series last year and thoroughly enjoyed it, so when this title, Safety Risk turned up for reviewing on Booksprout I was eager to see if it too was going to meet my expectations, even if it is the 10th book in the series. Well I can honestly say "I loved it" a tremendously entertaining read filled with hunky ex military guys who are more than ready and prepared to protect their women from anything and anyone. Then of course on the other end of the scale we get to read about the females known as the Bakery Girls, who will also go to the ends to protect their girls. So the 10th title in the series revolves around highly trained security specialist Lee and his ex military dog Delta rescuing runaway Heidi Montago from a sinister sibling couple. But not only does Lee have to protect Heidi from the outside danger but on occcassion from the hilarous female characters of Katy and Vonnie. Really great moments of humour especially at how the security guys are so focused compared to how the Bakery Girls play their games. If you enjoy humour, slow romance, a bit of mystery and action and total devotion from hot ex military guys then you won't be disappointed in this wonderful tale. The last book in this series... I'm hoping the author will consider a box set of this series at a special price as I love reconnecting with characters in previous books for those ah ha moments, but this was my first read in this series & does read as a standalone. The story has been outlined well in the blurb & previous reviews so I won't dwell on that. I read this in one sitting & I enjoyed the pace & there were so many elements, danger, humour, sizzling chemistry, quirky characters, an innocent girl on the run & a former navy seal protector who offers more than protection, swoon! Heidi is on the run from the Jesup siblings. She knows they killed their mother, a resident at the nursing home where she worked. When Kyle Jesup threatened Heidi with a gun to her head, she ran as far north of Portland as Pelican Bay where she rented a cabin for a week.
