About this ebook

These twelve essays span nearly twenty years of research and activism that chronicle one man's search for his family. Together, they explore the concept of personal identity from the perspective of someone who was erased completely by adoption in The State of New York.

"The Last Invisible Continent is an important book, a superb mixing of the personal and the political." -- The Columbus Free Press

A wonderful book about what adoptees go through emotionally, bureaucratically, financially, and spiritually simply to find what others take for granted - where they come from. Michael writes not only about his journey to find his family, but also his search for heritage and connectedness. His story is complicated and sometimes horrifying, but also moving and important. I myself am not a child of adoption and until reading Michael's essays had simply not...considered it. I now feel like I understand more and am grateful for that. And it's a great read.
