A moderately fresh iteration in the PIT series. It is predictably dominated by competent and intriguing world building for the Rovan sub-serial, plus a little roster refreshing and a visceral action sequence. Most everything else like the spanning PIT arc or individual character beats get just token attention. This book sets up enough hints of new players and challenges to keep me engaged and reading. I do worry about the protagonists getting relatively overpowered if they keep acquiring alien tech at the rate they have. But it's still fun so far reading about the team mastering it.
