About this ebook

You can always go home…but sometimes home won’t let you leave.

At forty, Kari Grove knows she should be over her strict childhood. The grandparents who raised her had never been loving people. But some feelings are buried deep and contain more dark secrets than even she realizes.

Even after death, it would appear her grandmother isn’t done controlling her life. (and that’s putting it mildly)

With the help of new friends and a love interest her grandparents would have hated, Kari must finally learn to stand up for herself and unravel the tragic mystery of her past.

Heather, Vivien, Lorna, and Sue are back! With the help of Grandma Julia's ghost, they're kicking supernatural butt and taking names.

About the Order of Magic Series

Older women kick ass. They know things. They’ve been there. They are worthy of their own literature category. They stopped giving a fuck. They also have their own set of issues that they face–empty nests, widows, divorce, menopause, health, etc–and these issues deserve to be addressed and embraced in literature. Women friendships matter. Women matter. Our thoughts and feelings matter.

Welcome to Paranormal Women's Fiction. Books for women who kick ass.

4.5 stars - Please make this into a movie/TV series POV: single HUMOR: yes F BOMBS: yes STANDALONE?: yes, but recommend reading series in order NEW AUTHOR FOR ME: no POSSIBLE TRIGGERS: alcohol use/drug references, super horrible & verbally abusive grandmother, fertility medical malpractice, attempted reincarnation using body of a child, seances, ghosts/demons This series is like Charmed + Friends + a dash of Sex and the City but in a small town CHARACTERS: FMC Kara Groves (single, considerate, lost parents when born, raised by grandparents), FMC love interest Angel Molina (sweet construction worker), and Series FMCs Heather, Vivien, Lorna, Sue OVERALL: Love - love- love that this is first and foremost about true friendship between amazing women ages 40+. PROS: 1. Importance of friendship is valued, even in new acquaintances. 2. Great characters who empathize, not judge, plus they have magical abilities! 3. You can feel all the feelings the FMC goes through: fear, anger, sadness, surprise, doubt, passion, love... CONS: 1. (This is a CON and a PRO) Some events may be disturbing/triggering, but the nugget is that really bad things do happen in reality and that characters are stronger for getting through them, especially with the support of caring friends 2. Very light/short on the romance (please just add a few dashes more - the men are so sweet and supportive). NOTEWORTHY: 1. Jaw-dropping surprise 2. For those following this series from the beginning, there's a LOL witty nod to book 1's Glenn-demon story being able to "fill an entire book." 3. Book quote: "We understand what it is to be women of our ages balancing on the edge of change. So we're here. To help. If you want it." RECOMMEND reading series in order to get full understanding of each FMC's backstory - it's totally worth it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Kari is there to take care of her Grandmother, her choice of home to die in leaves a lot to be desired, she's worth millions yet she has chosen to have her last days in Freewild Cove, California in what can only be described kindly as a dump, even the living room ceiling appears to be falling down. Even in her weakened state her Grandmother has nothing nice to say about her or to her, her mother died giving birth to her and father chose to throw himself in front of a bus, neither of which Connie Grove lets Kari forget. However given this is the sixth time she's been called to Connie's deathbed Kari isn't convinced this is the time yet either. But something strange happens to Kari when she finds a ring in the house and puts it in. Kari finds herself standing over the body of her dead grandmother holding a pillow and not able to explain the last minutes, could she have finally snapped and killed the old witch. What kind of breakdown is she having, and why was her Grandmother keeping bricks locked in a room? Kari is about to find out so much more about her families history, her grandmothers evil machinations but she'll also find what true friendship is, how to trust and how to love. As ever Julia's rings are only found by those who need them. And no matter what you might think of you have one, you deserve it and the joy it brings, the rings aren't just about magic, they are about friendship and acceptance and healing. Each of the ladies who had one of Julia's rings had much to offer, it's a sisterhood with accepting supporting partners. But can Kari accept all that and magic to? Michelle M. Pillow writes the good write. In this one i so disliked Connie i was saying some unpleasant things to my poor kindle, and that must be the sign of a good author, if they can make you hate an inanimate character then they have truly touched you and transported you. I've loved every book in this series to date, and I don't see that changing for any and all books still to come.

Well readers, Connie has made it to my top 5 most vile villans list of ALL Michelle M Pillow's books. I found this to be my favorite so far despite the pure evil that is Connie. This is actually Kari Grove's (the granddaughter) story. She knew nothing of the paranormal until she finds a " Julia ring" that her mom's home movie image points her to. Then she officially becomes a member of the bad a$$ women's magical group, as i like to call them. Kari is instantly taken under their wings as if they'd known each other since childhood. I love that about these women and the rings. From there the book takes you on a wild ride what with possessions, "emotional transportation issues," & a YUMMY man. It also has a kidnapping house, 2 happy/sad revelations, Connie being evil yet again, this time involving a child & a HEA. This can be read as a standalone but the whole series is worth every penny. It's a fantastic book that I recommend. Go, buy now with one click
