C.A. Kohls grew up as a dual citizen in the U.S. and Canada. She spent her childhood schooling in Michigan and her summers in Quebec Canada. She lived on a little island off the L'Isle-aux-Allumettes right in the middle of the Ottawa River. There with all of her sisters, her brother, her cousins, and friends, she had many adventures. The Ottawa River Series of books stem from her childhood memories of actual events and some imagined. She loved growing up on the island as a part of the wilderness there. Every morning she would put on her swimsuit and head out to explore her world. She met interesting people living on the island with her - kindred spirits. There she met Mr. Schultz, Mrs. Redmond, and played on Mr. Troutman's raft. She fished, swam, went in the swamps, picnicked, climbed trees, water skied, and caught any animal that was slow enough. One of her favorite things was canoeing. She loved to go to Algonquin Provincial Park to camp and paddle. The stories she writes are a compilation of her memories and her imagination. We hope you enjoy them, as much as she enjoyed her childhood there.
