 Mycotoxins, secondary metabolites of storage moulds, have been receiving increasing attention in view of their undisputed role in public health. Many books appeared, conferences in different parts of the globe are being conducted which clearly indicate direct relation between the incidence of mycotoxigenic fungi, degree of mycotoxin contamination and their prevalence revealed their relation to some of the human ailments. Out of several mycotoxins, aflatoxins, ochratoxins A and fumonisins are posing serious health hazards specially in Asian countries. Inspite of intensive and extensive studies related to mycotoxins the problems becoming intricate and intriguing and decisive conclusions could not be drawn and clear cut solutions are provided.This book is divided into two parts. First part deals with general aspects of mycotoxins covering areas of natural incidence, taxonomy of mycotoxigenic fungi, analytical techniques, and mechanism of mycotoxins, toxicity epidemiology and management of mycotoxins. The second part deals with individual mycotoxins. The detailed account of producing organisms, detection, biological activity and management practices specific to that of mycotoxins are discussed in individual chapters. An attempt has been made to discuss mycotoxins problem with reference to Indian conditions. In view of voluminous literature only comparatively recent and relevant literature is quoted and may be some important works might have been omitted.

S.M. Reddy
Dr. S.M. Reddy, Professor Emeritus (UGC), Department of Botany, Kakatiya University, is a recipient of Best Teacher Award by the Govt. of A.P. He authored/edited about 15 books of university education. His research work spans over wide areas of microbiology right from microbial diversity to microbial biotechnology. He guided 40 students for the Ph.D. degrees and published more than 400 original research papers in national and international journals. Successfully completed nearly 20 research projects sponsored by different funding agencies. He is a fellow of many academic societies and an active member of several academic bodies.

S. Girisham
Dr. S. Girisham, Professor of Microbiology has a teaching experience for nearly two decades at UG & PG levels. His research fields include mycotoxins, H2 production from photosynthetic bacteria. He has handled 6 research projects funded by UGC, DBT, CSIR, AICTE etc. and has published 130 original research papers in national and international journals and guided 12 students for their Ph.D degree. He edited and authored 06 books for UG, PG & research students. He is a fellow of Indian Phytopathological Society, Indian Botanical Society and AP Academy of Sciences and an active member of many academic bodies. 

V. Krishna Reddy
Dr. V. Krishna Reddy, presently the Head of the Department of Botany, Kakatiya University Warangal. He received his M.Sc and Ph.D. degrees from Kakatiya University. He has nearly three decade of teaching experience research experience. His areas of research includes mycotoxins associated with foods and feeds and endophytic fungi of medicinal importance. Under his guidance three students were awarded Ph.D and four students are presently working. He handled a major research project funded by UGC, New Delhi. He has published 70 research papers in reputed journals and co-authored three books. He is an active member of academic bodies like Indian Botanical Society and Indian Phytopathological Society and Telangana Academy of Sciences. He visited foreign countries like USA and Sri Lanka and presented his research findings.

M. Surekha
Dr. M. Surekha, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, Kakatiya University, received her M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Mycology and Plant pathology from Kakatiya University. She has a teaching experience 20 years and research experience for 25 years. Her core area of research is mycology and mycotoxins with special emphasis on animal feeds and fodders and has been working in this area for last 20 years. She has guided three students for their Ph.D degrees and presently four are working; published 40 research papers in international and national journals of repute and contributed three chapters in books published by Springer, Elsevier and CAB. Currently, she is working as Principal Investigator for the UGC funded project.
