I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it. I would give this 10 stars if I could. I devoured this story. I was so looking forward to this one when the first one ended. It couldn’t come soon enough for me. I love this series and as it is called Men of Stone Ridge, I am hoping for many more to come; especially since the town has more men than women. Jackson left Stone Ridge years ago after being jilted at the alter by his high school sweetheart. He is only coming back to town for his older brother’s wedding (the first story of this series). The only problem he has, the maid-of-honor is his ex-fiancee! Yep nothing like having to see her for the two weeks he is in town. Eve did leave Jackson at the alter but she had her reasons. When Jackson left to join his band in Nashville the day after the non-wedding, Eve knew he placed music above her. She went to college to become a veterinarian. During college something happened. She comes back a changed woman. The town does get over their feelings of her throwing over Jackson, especially his family. This story is an emotional one. There were times when I was so heartbroken for these two characters. Just when you think the couple will get their HEA, nope the author makes them jump through more hurdles! (Yay to me as the book didn’t end!!!!) The author does a wonderful job of making them so humanized that I felt like I was right there in the middle of everything. I adored the multiple POV. That was most important when getting Eve’s side. It really helped me to connect to her. This is a sexy read. Those scenes were slightly graphic in nature so I would only highly recommend this to anyone over the age of 18.

This part of the series concentrates on Jackson and Eve, who left him at the altar eight years ago. They are now standing up for his brother and fiancée at their wedding. Still having hurt feelings and hatred for what happened, Jackson has a long road to let go of his pain. Eve also has had a long road, with more pain than losing Jackson. The characters are terrific, strong and determined. The storyline deals with a lot of situations, like her helping his grandmother, before feelings can be acknowledged again. Loved the way they find each other and deal with their histories. Can not wait for the next story in this series as it really has me hooked. I had a feeling it would take a lot for Eve to get past the traumatic events she touched on in the last book that left her deaf in one ear. But she wasn't really expecting a second chance with Jackson after she left him at the altar especially when he comes home angry and ready to throw her out of his mother's house. I enjoyed hearing about Eve's veterinary cases. I would be nervous around a big rancher who might take some needed advice the wrong way too. When Eve and Jackson work towards a place of understanding and forgiveness all these roadblocks come up to prevent their getting back together including his pushy ex-wife and an opportunity he's always wanted. I laughed over the SORROW group's machinations bringing women into the town and their advice about how to keep a man.

About the author

Born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama she lost her accent by the time she was two. Her grandmother, Mima, kept both the accent and spirit of the southern woman alive for decades. Her favorite sayings were, "Give me some sugar," and "Thank you, Jesus." After leaving Alabama, Heatherly lived with her family in Puerto Rico and Maryland before being transplanted kicking and screaming to the California Bay Area. She now loves it here, she swears. Except the traffic.
