On a warm summer evening in the late 1960s, as Samantha DeSantis walks home from an impromptu softball game, she spots a bike in the distance. She watches as the rider picks up speed, drawing nearer. Pamela Dean’s love of storytelling and language emerged at an early age, feeding her passion for writing. After graduating from SUNY Albany, she began teaching English in 1972. She lives in Michigan with her husband and currently works as a high school English teacher in the Plymouth-Canton School System.
