In this book, O-soto-gari, 13 of the world’s leading experts come together to reveal one of judo’s foundational techniques. Germany’s double World and Olympic Champion, Udo Quellmalz, presents the O-soto-garis he used against right and left handed opponents, whilst classical variations are presented by GB’s Euan Burton and Winston Gordon.

Three of France’s greatest fighters – Darcel Yandzi, Lucie Décosse and Ugo Legrand – show how O-soto-gari works perfectly alongside fast movement and alternative grips. Learn the diagonal attacking O-soto-garis of Japan’s Keiji Suzuki, Germany’s Ole Bischof and Mark Huizinga of The Netherlands, and the multiple ways in which the technique can be used in combination with other techniques.

Kosei Inoue of Japan used O-soto-gari to compliment his rear attacking O-uchi-gari, whereas Korea’s Ki-young Jeon and Mongolia’s Tumurkhuleg Davaadorj paired it up with forward throws. Finally, don’t miss USA’s Kayla Harrison’s incredible Sode-tsurikomi-goshi into O-soto-gari.
