About this eBook

smokin’ hot second chance holiday romance from USA Today Bestselling Author J.H. Croix!

That guy. You know the one? He just walked back into my world.

It all started when the curtains caught on fire at a funeral. Actually, it all started seven years ago in college. Rowan Cole was that guy—the one I couldn’t forget. We’d once been best friends. Maybe more. We almost had it all.

I’ve spent years trying to forget him and the tragic night that tore us apart. As bad luck would have it, he’s the firefighter who shows up to rescue me from the church I almost set on fire.

Speaking of flames and melting, Rowan still has the ability to set me on fire. Just by existing. He’s downright delectable, all rugged man wrapped in a body of pure muscle. I do not want to want him again.

This small town is making it awful hard to avoid him. Especially when he’s determined to prove he’s worth it.

Keywords: Rowan & Mae’s story is perfect for readers who love small town holiday romance, hotshot firefighters, sassy heroines, second chances, friends to lovers, slow burn, emotional romance with a dash of angst, plenty of steam and swoon, and a broody, protective hero who has to fight to win back the only girl he ever loved.

*A full-length, standalone romance.

We get Hotshot Firefighter Rowan’s story in this one along with Mae, who returns home to Alaska after college and several more years away. Rowan and Mae were best friends in college before Mae cut all ties. When they reconnect in her hometown, Rowan digs into the reason she dumped him back in college. The story was detailed and complex with many hometown friends making appearances throughout. Readers who are sensitive about date rape drugs/rape should know that this story could have triggers (there were no graphic details that I recall). There was a lot to enjoy in this read with some angst, lovin and a bit of excitement. I liked the details of the scenery and characters, so I really want to live in a small-town Alaska. I received an arc and voluntarily left an honest review.

This was emotional as there may be some triggers but there are lots of hidden messages when it comes to parties in colleges. Rowan and Mae have a hard time but I loved seeing how determined Rowan was to win her back. They're sweet and steamy and a great holiday, feel-good romance with some twists and angst thrown in.

I have to say wow what a great story!!! Mar and Rowan’s story is really such an unbelievable one. The connection they had never broke even though all the stuff both do them went through. I loved how Rowan didn’t give up trying when he saw Mae again. When he learned the truth behind her leaving seeing the rage build up but then followed by love was great. It was well written and had a great story line.
