About the author

Amit Nath
Dr. Amit Nath was born on 1st February 1970 at Mariani, in the District of Jorhat, Assam, India. He graduated in B. Sc. (Agriculture) from NEHU-SASRD, Medziphema, Nagaland in 1993 with 1st division (University Gold Medalist). He received Master degree in Food Technology in 1995 from Central Institute of Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore. The author was selected for ARS in the discipline of Food Science and Technology in the 1997 ARS batch. He received Ph.D. degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in 2007. He also received MBA degree from IGNOU, New Delhi in 2008. He is presently working as Principal Scientist (Food Technology) at ICAR-Indian Institute of Farming Systems Research, Modipuram, Meerut, UP, India. He is a life member of the Association of Food Scientists & Technologist (India). The author has worked in eleven research projects, one patent applied, published 45 research papers in peer-reviewed journal, two books, six proceeding papers and eleven book chapters. Designed and developed high temperature short time (HTST) air puffing system and also optimized the process technology for production of potato and potato-soy based ready-to-eat (RTE) snacks using high temperature short time (HTST) air puffing followed by oven toasting method. Established Pack house facilities (1 ton/day) in the ICAR Complex under DBT sponsored projects for minimization of post harvest losses of important horticultural crops (viz., Khasi mandarin fruits, pineapples, ginger and turmeric). Designed and developed CFB packaging system for long distance transportation of fresh ginger for minimization of post harvest losses. He also involved in design and developed low-cost portable biomass fired dryer for drying of large cardamom. He Imparted training to more than 500 farmers on value addition in Agricultural produces and also more than 50 KVK SMS, State Govt. officials. Guided five M. Sc students, one Ph.D. and one MBA student for awarding degree. He has been conferred with Dr. J.S. Pruthi Award (2013) Association of Food Scientist and Technologists (India); received Kunwar Saxena Bahadur SRDA Award (2014) from Society for Recent Development in Agriculture, Meerut, India. 

S. Mangaraj
Dr. Shukadev Mangaraj was born on 1st August 1975 at Mamia, in the District of Bolangir, Odisha, India. He passed the high school and Intermediate examination from Govt. Boys High School, Kantabanji, and B.J.B College, Bhubaneswar, with 1st division (distinction) in the year 1990 and 1992, respectively. He graduated in B. Tech. (Agricultural Engineering) from OUAT, Bhubaneswar in 1996 with 1st division. He received Master degree in Agricultural Structures and Process Engineering with 1st division (distinction) in 1998 from IARI, New Delhi. The author was selected for ARS in the discipline of AS&PE in the 1998 ARS batch. He received Ph.D. degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in 2012. He is presently working as Senior Scientist (AS&PE) at Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Bhopal. He is a life member of the Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers (ISAE). The author has worked in twelve research projects, developed nine prototypes, patent applied two, published 63 research papers in peer-reviewed journal, seven books, and fifteen book chapters. Guided nine M. Tech/M. Sc students and forty three B. Tech students of different colleges for awarding degree. Obtained international training at the School of Packaging, Michigan State University, USA in the area of ‘smart packaging’ sponsored by NAIP, ICAR, New Delhi. He has been conferred with NAAS ASSOCIATE (2014) by the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, New Delhi; received ISAE Commendation Medal (2014) from Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers, New Delhi; received Jawaharlal Nehru Award (2013) from Indian Council of Agricultural Research New Delhi; ISAE Commendation Award (2011) from Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers, New Delhi; N. N. Mohan Memorial Award (2009) from ‘All India Food Processors’ Association’, New Delhi; Best Faure Article Award (2013) from Association of Food Scientist and Technologist, Mysore; Best Citizens of India Award (2012) from International Publishing House New Delhi; Rastriya Gaurav Award (2014) and Bharat Jyoti Award (2011) from India International Friendship Society, New Delhi. He also received four best poster presentation awards on his research work given by various forums namely ISAE, New Delhi; AFSTI, Mysore; and IICPT (Ministry of Food Processing Industry) etc. 

T.K. Goswami
Dr. Tridib Kumar Goswami is presently working as professor in the Department of Agriculture and Food Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He is a life member of the Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers (ISAE), American Society of Agricultural and Bilogical Engineers (ASABE), Indian Association of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), Indian Society of Cryogenic Engineers, and Association of Food Scientists and Technologists (AFSTI). His research area of interest are cold Storage, CA and MA storage of fruits and vegetables, cryogenic grinding of spices, discrete Element Analysis of grinding and CFD analysis of temperature distribution in precooler. The author is a member of the editorial Board for Journal of Applied Sciences Research, Food Processing Technology and The Standard International Journals (The SIJ). He has worked in several research projects, published 100 research papers in peer-reviewed journal, and twenty book chapters. Guided six Ph. D students and fifteen M. Tech students for awarding degree. He has been conferred with NAAS FELLOW (2015) by the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, New Delhi; N.N. Mohan Memorial Award (2009) for best research paper conferred by All India Food Processors Association, New Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru Award (3 students) under his supervision from Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. He also received seven best poster presentation awards on his research work given by various forums namely ISAE, New Delhi; AFSTI, Mysore; and IICPT (Ministry of Food Processing Industry) etc. 

J. Chauhan
Dr. Jitendra Chauhan is presently working as Head (Agril. Extension), RBS College, Bichpuri, Agra. He was awarded with many prestigious awards in field of Extension Education like, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Puruskar (ICAR Award), Best Extension Professional Award, ISEE Fellow Award, Dr O.P. Dhama Award and SEE Fellow Awards. Dr. Chauhan has various publications in his credit followed by 51 research papers, 4 book chapters, 5 Books, 2 Manuals and editing and compilation of Compendiums. Dr. Chauhan held various prestigious positions from time to time to serve the fraternity of Extension Education, like Founder General Secretary, Society of Extension Education, Agra, GB member, ICAR Council, new Delhi, Member Academic council, Dr. B.R.A. University, Agra., Managing Editor, Indian Research Journal of Extension Education, AGRA, Convener of Research Degree Committee, Dr. B.R.A. University, Agra, Joint Director, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, RBS College, Bichpuri & Awagarh and Dean, Student welfare.
