Despre această carte electronică

The aim of the book is to answer the following questions:

  1. What is the nature of the operation in terms of anatomical rearrangement?
  2. What does this look like on post-operative imaging?
  3. What complications can occur following this operation?
  4. What do the complications look like on imaging?
  5. How does one differentiate normal post-operative anatomy from the associated complications?

Each chapter will provide a comprehensive description of the most common abdominal operations involving the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, liver and genitourinary systems, illustrated with artists' drawings and radiological images of normal post operative anatomy. The complications associated with each procedure will be in table format consisting of brief text description alongside imaging examples. There will be teaching points - particularly emphasising differentiation between normal post-operative anatomy and complications. Imaging examples will be mostly barium and water contrast studies and CT - but MRI, angiography and ultrasound will also be included. The book will be divided into nine chapters. References will be included at the end of each chapter.

Line drawings will be illustrated by a consultant radiologist (with previous higher specialty surgical training) and a consultant surgeon.

The editors have collected an extensive library of high resolution TIFF images of post-operative anatomy and complications. All images will have arrows delineating normal anatomy and features of complications.

Leeds has an excellent national and international reputation in gastrointestinal and hepato-biliary radiology and surgery. This and the reputation of some of the book’s authors will provide an excellent selling point.

The book will be of interest to consultant radiologists, specialist registrars in radiology and general surgical trainees, worldwide.
