About this ebook

A scandalous past. A long-held secret. Will they trust in their love?

After escaping years of abuse, Fidelia Evans is finally content. She is proud of her job working in her sister’s bakery while tatting highly sought-after lace in her spare time. She finds comfort in knowing she has a safe place to live. Fidelia attempts to forget her past, although her frequent nightmares provide a constant reminder of her past ordeals. As she settles into her new life, her fascination and attraction to Bears grows. Afraid of repeating the mistakes of her past, Fidelia hesitates yet yearns for more than friendship with Bears.

John Runs-From-Bears Renfrew is a patient man. He enjoys his work in the livery with horses for company and accepts his status in town: outcast to some, acceptable to others. However, from the moment he meets Fidelia, Bears knows she is the woman for him. Bears bides his time as she heals after her rescue from the Boudoir. He watches with patient understanding as she shies away from any contact with a man not of her family. Bears admires her desire to rebuild her life as a respectable woman. And yet, the more time he spends with Fidelia, the more he longs for her to trust him. To see him as a man she would marry.

When an unexpected stranger arrives in Bear Grass Springs, Bears and Fidelia are forced to confront long held fears. They must discover what they truly value as they overcome ghosts from their past.

Will the love growing between them be stronger than their fears?

Two people with so much pain and history, it is a wonder that they ever found each other, let alone were able to put their trust in each other. Fidelia has been attracted to Bears ever since she was rescued by a member of the MacKinnon family, but because of past mistakes, she is very loathe to act on her feelings. Bears has been a misfit ever since he was a boy and as a half-breed, he keeps a low profile, despite the respect he has garnered from the MacKinnons, their extended family and associates. It is only when Bears' past comes back to him in an unexpected way that Fidelia's feelings are aroused to a level where she allows herself to set aside some of her fears. Unfortunately, when her past returns it isn't with the same positive results that Bears is having, but the MacKinnon family puts a blanket of protection around her in an attempt to keep her safe. The story is romantic and suspenseful, coming to a very successful and positive conclusion. I received a copy of this well-written book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

About the author

Ramona is a historical romance author who loves to immerse herself in research as much as she loves writing. A native of Montana, every day she marvels that she gets to live in such a beautiful place. When she’s not writing, her favorite pastimes are fly fishing the cool clear streams of a Montana river, hiking in the mountains, and spending time with family and friends.

Ramona’s heroines are strong, resilient women, the type of women you’d love to have as your best friend. Her heroes are loyal and honorable, the type of men you’d love to meet or bring home to introduce to your family for Sunday dinner. She hopes her stories bring the past alive and allow you to forget the outside world for a while.
