About this eBook

Meet the newest expansion team--The Portland Icehawks. They're a group of guys with chips on their shoulders out to make their former teams regret letting them go. They won't stop until they win it all, but what they haven't counted on is love being part of that equation.

As a thirty-five-year-old hockey player, I've learned a hard lesson in loyalty. I was supposed to be a lifer for the Chicago Tigers, but the team left me out in the cold, choosing to protect younger players in the expansion draft. The next thing I know, I'm in a strange city with a fledgling team, and my estranged wife has served me with divorce papers. Not the best way to start a new chapter in my career.

As the team struggles to find its identity and win games, I struggle with my role as team captain, proving I'm not too old to play at a high level, and getting beyond my failed marriage. All this is complicated by an undeniable attraction to the owner's granddaughter. As the team racks up the losses, I seek solace with the one woman whose very presence could destroy what's left of my career.

Sometimes love is comfortable and subtle. Other times it hits you with the force of a puck to the jaw. I've never experienced the latter until now, and I can't stay away regardless of the consequences.

Dashel (Dash) Bates finds himself in a new city, separated, on the brink of divorce and struggling to start over both professionally and personally. However sometimes when you least expect it, love will find you and that’s what happens for Dash. I really liked Everly, she is such a feisty, sassy woman and one I admired. Having quickly become invested in Dash and Everly’s story I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

I enjoyed the story as Dash struggled with the expansion team, trying to make it a stronger unit. He had plenty of patience, but there were a couple who pushed his buttons to set him off. Everly was a fun character, a bit of a free spirit trying to prove herself to her family. She had more smarts than she gave herself credit for. Dash helped get her on a better path. The steam between them was hot, and their love hard fought for. I had tears at the end as things wound up. I recommend this story.

Skated to victory in this new hockey romance series Everly, the family klutz, lives up to her reputation by handing Dash, the Portland Icehawk’s center, the wrong jersey at the expansion team announcement. As the story progresses the awkward encounters continue, their easiness with each other can confuse, and they may have to pay the piper when the time comes due. Jami Davenport skated to victory in this new hockey romance series. There is forbidden attraction, foreshadowing of books to come, and character tension on the team driving the plot of this introductory book. Leaving the reader wanting to dive right into the next one right away. I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
