About this ebook

Algernon Wright, the Earl of Draconhawthshire, takes great care to avoid bad luck. Over the years, he’s learned to sway good luck in his favor, and because of that, he’s managed to avoid many unlucky incidents. The only thing he can’t change, however, is the curse that hovers over his life. On his twenty-fifth birthday, Algernon is doomed to die. That leaves him only one year to get married so he can pass on his title to an heir.

Ideally, the lady he marries will be a spinster who isn’t all that interested in marriage but will be happy to be a mother. Then, when he dies early, neither one of them will miss each other. Instead of the old spinster he hopes to find, however, he comes across Miss Reina Livingstone. She is vibrant and full of life. She gives him the one thing he lost over the years: hope.

Reina knows Algernon believes he’s cursed, but she doesn’t. The poor gentleman has lived under the heaviness of sorrow for so long that he hasn’t really learned to enjoy life. He deserves a love match. And she’s going to make it her mission to marry him, regardless of whether it brings good or bad luck.

A sweet story about how one's fears can dictate their life. But letting to of them can often times bring happiness beyond measure! Algernon just knew his life would end at twenty five. His father and brother had died at the age and he just knew it would be the same for him. So at twenty four he decided to wed and begat a heir to leave with his name! Reina had fallen in love with the very sweet, handsome Algernon, and knew of all his superstitions, but that did not stop her from accepting his proposal. A fun journey to follow to see what happens and if he can get over his fears!

Helps him over come his fears of being cursed and die on his 25 th birthday. Is it a curse or something worse. I started this book thinking I might not get very far reading it. Rain, days of the week, date of a day, making sure his carriage is all right before he gets into it, ravens, etc. Algernon Wright, Earl Draconhawthshire, is over the top superstitious to the point of being obnoxious. Granted his father and brother both died at twenty-five, he is conveniced he will die at the same age in less than a year. What he wants is a wife and have an heir as soon as possible. Once he meets and marries Riena, he starts to think about his obsession and the happiness he could have until he dies. When anonymous unlucky gifts start arriving for Riena, a Bow Street Runner steps in. Much more interesting with sideline characters that bring some humor to the book and step up the pace.
