About this ebook

WHO declared the global outbreak of SARS to be over in July 2003. Worldwide numbers of SARS cases from the original outbreak included 774 deaths, about 10% of all reported cases. In early 2004, several new cases of SARS were investigated in China where the outbreak was thought to have originated from a laboratory. No new cases have been reported since. Resurgence of SARS remains a distinct possibility and calls for international vigilance.
