When I came up with the idea for this novel, I was intrigued by a phenomenon. It seemed outrageous tome how much people simply loved to hate other people. Reality television shows were a perfect example of this. So when I thought of this story line, I wanted to try to create a real asshole of a character. And thus, Simon Cross was born.
Simon is an obtuse, self-centered, egomaniacal and successful advertising executive. He uses women and money like napkins. I wanted readers to really, really hate him first...and then let them fall in love with him.
The Wheels of Change has been the most successful of all my books to date. I'm proud of this story because the book literally wrote itself. It is the third in my police procedural series but can be read as a standalone novel.
