Then Lochley rescues Caro from two men accosting her in Tunbridge Wells, he finds out the ugly truth about Caro and about himself. Caroline Martin made one mistake. She trusted a man who betrayed her. Now she lives in seclusion on her father’s vineyard. A very engaging novella, which is well written with characters that are well portrayed. I must admit I didn’t like Peregrine at the beginning nor his reaction to Caro's secret but he did redeem himself & I grew to like him. I admired Caro for holding her head high & her parents were amazing. I read this delightful novella in a sitting My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

THE SUMMER OF WINE AND SCANDAL by Shana Galen is alternatively touching, hilarious, and very romantic. Caroline Martin is living in shame, when Peregrine Lochley arrives into town and changes everything. In spite of looking like such a superficial fop, he is adorable, and what a joy it was to witness Caro and Lochley form a united front, and I was dying to know what their secrets were. It was such a wonderful story that I was sorry to see it end so quickly!
