You can never go wrong with a story by Ms Stoker and this one proves that fact. The ability of the author to point out people’s judgement of those they do not consider “normal” whether it be because of a disability, in this case speech, or race, in this case American Indian, was outstanding. The main characters, Roman/Chief and Sophie were complex and the plot was well developed. A reminder that perceptions can be deceiving. The saying , never judge a book by it’s cover, couldn’t be more true. It’s a heartbreaking, but also heartwarming story about two individuals who will grow and blossom because of trust, and love. Looking forward to more stories by Ms Stoker. I was gifted this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Interesting!! I really enjoyed Sophie and Chief's story! Their story is interesting, engaging and sexy. The best part about reading this story for me, was learning some of Chief's background and Navajo traditions and superstition. Sophie had my heart right off the bat! That girl rocks!! What she does helping burn victim is awesome! I love this author's stories and this one did not disappoint!

Susan Stoker delivers another great read in her Badge of Honor series. Shelter for Sophie combines romance, suspense with a touch of mysticism drawing the reader into the story from the start. As with her other books, the main characters are flaw but very much humans with their hearts in the right place. This is part of a series and can be read as a stand alone, reading the series in order, however, gives the reader a more satisfactory experience. Great read!
