About this ebook

Acute mountain sickness (AMS) refers to the clinical symptoms caused by exposure to hypoxia at high altitude. The pathophysiology behind the symptoms is not known. A descent to a lower altitude is always the first choice treatment in AMS. AMS with cerebral manifestations is distinguished from that with pulmonary manifestations.
