About this ebook

From Jody Kaye, bestselling author and the creator of the Kingsbrier Quintuplets, comes a highly addictive and twisted, secret lovers romance between a medical student and the hunky single dad with a stutter, who works as a handyman at the strip club she dances at. There’s a Sliver of Truth hiding behind their steamy hookups. But is it love or simply lust? And what happens when a Mill Girl breaks the cardinal rule?

—Cece—

Men beg to touch my body. Yet, Dusty’s moves against mine in unspeaking eloquence.

My heart stammers when we’re alone, and he growls my name.

I hate that I love the strength of his arms.

I love that I hate it too. The feeling keeps me sane because when we’re apart, doubt creeps in.

I’m ashamed to admit my fears about what happens if everyone finds out we’ve been hooking up. Along with the guilt comes the horrible thoughts I shouldn't have about Dusty’s disability.

Perhaps those emotions are a sign I’m not a good person and there is a sliver of truth that I don’t deserve a better life.

After all, what would a single dad really want with a woman who took her clothes off to get to where she is?

Cece & Dusty’s love story is perfect for contemporary and new adult & college romance readers who love forbidden workplace taboo, and single parents starting over and ready for their second chance at love. A steamy, found family romance about a child abuse survivor, trying to better her life and forced to examine her bias towards her brother’s best friend after he’s become disabled, Sliver of Truth is a full-length book in the southern small town North Carolina Shattered Hearts of Carolina Series and has a guaranteed happily ever after. (Please Note: This book contains other sensitive scenarios that may trigger readers.)

I enjoyed this New "Shattered Hearts of Carolina" story. We finally get Dusty and Ceci's story. These two have been partners between the sheets for sometime. Both want more but they have obstacles to overcome and realizations. I love the characters and the story is very captivating. Very good read with some depth to it.

About the author

Jody's husband asked what she'd been doing all day. After five years she finally confessed, "When no one is around, I write."

Okay, it was more like trying to get out of saying a thing. Jody's a writer. You want it pretty. Let's compromise.

"Just finish one," he said, challenging her to complete a story and share it. Little did he know that those words of encouragement meant they’d return from a family vacation with a wild and defiant set of quintuplets stumbling their way through life. Wasn’t raising their three sons enough?

A native of nowhere, Jody settled in New England for 17 years before agreeing to uproot her brood of boys and move to North Carolina. She spends most of her time reading, writing, and hoping that her ravenous children haven’t eaten all the ingredients before she cooks dinner.
