I love this series, Amy and Ambrose are two of my favourite characters of all time. They are really sweet together and their relationship progresses at a realistic pace and they are both really likeable people. In this book they have a new case to solve and it will mean working with someone from the vampire council. I am really enjoying how the author is bringing the surrounding characters of this series more into the main frame and also now we have a friendly visitor from the Fangs for Nothing series who also just adds a new dimension to the team and an added bit of entertainment. The characters remain consistently well-crafted and entertaining throughout the series and the story was wonderfully entertaining and I was captivated from start to finish. Although not as action-packed as previous books in the series, Sparks and Marks (Amethyst's Wand Shop Mysteries #4) is an entertaining book to read. The relationship between Amy and Ambrose continues to slowly deepen, as does their partnership in crime-fighting at the Paranormal Police Department (PPD). As they work on solving gruesome murder cases tied together in ways that add elements of suspense and mystery to the storyline, you see their characters becoming inseparable in many ways. The reappearance of Amy's sister Topaz adds humor and a little foreboding as she takes on a surprising job. Along with the murder mystery that brings in some pretty vile characters, the appearance of characters from the Vampire Detective Series, Lucy and Watson (aka Watt), and the return of lovable characters from the Amethyst Wand Shop series made this an easy entertaining book to read. The book ends with an epilogue that introduces what's to come in the next book in the series, Doom and Broom. The epilogue sets up an interesting tale that I look forward to reading.
