All of Me I wanted to take both Ivey and Jeff, hug them tight, and promise that nothing would ever hurt them again. I realize how terribly unrealistic that promise is, but it’s still what I was feeling for most of this book. Normally, a secret baby is a theme that’s difficult for me to believe in. Yet this story gave me the right elements for me to be swept in their drama and to believe. I loved the crazy, quirky townsfolk and now I want to dive into the rest of the series. Somebody Like You Billy and the whole crazy, loving Turlock family are my favorite things in this book. Brooke was not an easy character to like. In the beginning, she had my sympathy for the way her former boss treats her in the opening scene. However, her attitude quickly wore away at my consideration. She’s so aloof and guarded that even as the reader, I had difficulty connecting with Brooke. I loved seeing the sweet care Billy took to show her that he wasn’t the man she thought he was, and how he gently worked his way past her defenses. The happy ever after they’re able to achieve is absolutely beautiful, I just would have preferred to see more of the big mental changes that made it possible a little earlier in the story. Now I desperately want to know more about the rest of the Turlock clan. Until There Was You I adore a second chance! And while this book isn’t one in the conventional sense, that’s the feeling it evokes. Wallace and Gen have never been a couple, but they’ve been “the one that got away” for almost as long as they’ve known each other. But, Wallace at least, has fought his feelings for all that time because he doesn’t want to jeopardize his friendship with her brother. I loved Gen’s strength and independence. I wasn’t entirely on board with some of her manipulative plans, but since most of them go sideways in some pretty spectacular ways, I can forgive them. Wallace is like the mountains: strong, steady, enduring, and about as quick to change. He’s felt responsible for the success and happiness of the people around him and so he’s carried a burden that wasn’t always his to own. When it comes to Gen and his own feelings, he has the emotional sensitivity of a root vegetable. He needed some sense knocked into him and I was glad to see it happen. I loved seeing their happy ending and I can’t wait to read what happens next. Anywhere with You Second chances are like catnip to me. They will suck me in while I’m not watching and before I know it, I’ve lost hours of my day. Joe and Kailey struck me as a pair that were in desperate need of another chance to get it right. This story relies heavily on characters that were introduced previously in the series. I recommend reading the first three books in the series before this one to understand the dynamics and history between them all. I hated to see what it took to make Kailey realize that she might have been running away from the best thing in her life, but at the same time, I loved all the growth she went through coming to that realization. Even Joe had some growth to do in order to make their second chance work. That was one of the things I liked best about this book: it took both Kailey and Joe making changes for it all to come together. And more.

This book contains the Books 1-8 of Heatherly Bell’s Starlight Hills series. Love this series. Unforgettable You Book 5 This is the story of Diana Mulvaney and Scott Turlock. Scott, a firefighter, lives in Starlight Hill. Diana’s grandmother lives there. When Diana, a writer, realizes that her mother plans to put Diana’s grandmother, “Gran,” in a home, Diana moves home to prove that Gran doesn’t is very self-sufficient and doesn’t need to be put in a home. This is a fantastic book about two troubled people, who plan to have a “no strings, no attachment” affair, find each other and fall in love. This book is great because the author has created two sensitive, loveable characters who find their way with the help of each other. Forever With You Book 6 This is the story of Sophia Abella and Riley Jacobs. Eight years ago, they got married in a whirlwind courtship without thought or concern about possible complications. Riley, a Marine, had to head back to base, and he didn’t want to go without Sophia. Sophia went with him as a starry-eyed newlywed. Unfortunately, the couple discovered that Sophia could not handle being a military wife. With Jack’s blessing, Sophia left, and they never saw each other again. Sophia returns to Starlight Hill where she takes over the management of her family restaurant and tries to move on in life. However, since neither of them filed for divorce, Sophia finds it difficult to, actually, move on. Riley returns to Starlight Hill, as the new chief of police and attempts to win Sophia back. This is a delightful book about two people who love each other very much, in spite of the fact that they do not seem to be able to, happily, live together. So, both of them try to change each other in an attempt to peacefully live together. Unfortunately, as this author suggests, attempts to change the personality of your loved one will, most likely, cause unhappiness for both of you. Her implication is that you shouldn’t want to change them since this is the personality you fell in love with. Crazy for You Book 7 This is a fun story with a crazy premise. Fallon McQueen and Jack Cooper are two lost souls who are trying to find their ways in life. Fallon is from Starlight Hill, who was just fired from her job as a posh hairdresser in California. Jack is a burned out homicide policeman who has quit his job to find something that will be less emotional. Fallon meets Jack as he is “arresting” a man who has tried to break into her home. After meeting Jack, she decides to ask him to pretend to be her boyfriend for her trip home to Starlight Hill. Fallon has been invited to her third husband’s wedding, and has told her mother that she has been dating someone for six months. Even though this is a common trope, Ms. Bell manages to create an entertaining story as Fallon and Jack pretend to be in love with each other. Of course, their charade becomes easier as the couple actually does fall in love with each other. Along the way, there are some funny moments, and some serious moments, as these two strangers try to convince an entire town that they have been dating for six months. Along the way, Jack bolsters Fallon’s confidence as she fights the townspeople’s lack of respect. And, Fallon helps Jack find himself as he realizes what he should do for the rest of his life.

I am a recent follower of Ms Bell, but have come to the conclusion that if I pick up a book by this author, I know that it will be a winner. When this anthology came along , I HAD to read it. I was not disappointed and the price was perfect. The stories included are All of Me,Unforgettable You, Forever You, and Crazy for You to name a few. Each story will touch your heart, from Diane’s and Scott’s reconnection in Unforgettable You, to Sophia’s and Riley marriage hanging on a string , though Riley puts all his Marine determinations to win over Sophia and lastly, one of my favorite stories, Fallon’s and Jack’s story. Both have had disappointments. Fallon is divorced, has lost her job in LA, and shares custody of her 9 year old with an ex that is about to remarry in their hometown, a town that considers her a lost case and unreliable. She is due to attend the wedding with her “boyfriend”. One that she made up. Fallon accidentally meets Jack when he stops burglar in front of her apartment. .Jack is a man who has recently left his job as an LAPD detective after a case that shattered him mentally and emotionally. While one is focused on making herself have a purpose and a plan, the other one wants time to chill and desires no agenda. Fallon convinces him to be her “ boyfriend” for the wedding , and what started out as make believe, turns the table on them, especially as they begin a road trip to Starlight Hill. This is a story that is heartwarming. Both Fallon and Jack have big hearts, hearts that have been crushed . They have been hurt by people in their lives and are not interested in another relationship. But life has a sense of humor and in the spirit of Christmas they get a chance to know each other. I loved the way that Jack helped Fallon see how valuable she was as a person. He stood by her, and made her realize that she needed to also learn to stand for herself, especially when it came to her Mom and the townspeople. Who knew that a road trip would be a turning point to these two very likable and sweet characters. A story you’ll enjoy anytime of the year. I was gifted this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
