About this ebook

Care for a Little Murder with that Sweet Roll?

Jules Hooker is doing her best to adjust to the new normal of a world without electricity, electronics, cars or the chance to return home. Stranded in the charming but provincial village of Chabanel wasn’t terrible until Jules discovers Aix-en-Provence and decides that the big city lights—even when they’ve gone out in the apocalypse—are much preferable to the countryside.

Of course with a big city comes big city crimes and when a fellow American is accused of murdering a popular pastry chef in Aix, Jules knows she has to help.

Unfortunately tracking a dangerous killer when you don’t know the language—or the French people themselves—soon has Jules bumbling into one dangerous situation after another.

All the wonderful pastries aside, will this be lights out for Jules too?

Always a pleasure to read Susan's stories, for she's sure to have a spin that sets hers apart. I'd probably give the book 5 stars if Jules was a little less stumblingly ignorant in her pursuits. Still, I'm enjoying being stranded in Provence with her.

I can now say that without a doubt I am addicted to Susan Kiernan-Lewis' writing style. I love every single character, whether weird or not, and I love the fact that the main character isn't this Hollywood-type super spy that never makes a mistake. In fact just the opposite. She's so normal, you forget you're just reading a book. It's like living with all of them. Breathing their Mediterranean air and eating their amazing croissants etc. I want to drink wine on my patio and eat olives and cheese - none of which I have liked up to this point. Well, needless to say I can't wait for the rest of the Stranded in Provence books.

Jules is very funny and gets herself into some entertaining situations. The little Romance in the background is fun!
