About this ebook

Suspense and romance combine in Susan Sleeman's thrilling new novel about an FBI agent who must team up with a beautiful therapist to stop a killer with a deadly new weapon.

Some fears haunt you forever....

As the ballistics and weapon's expert for the FBI's special task force nicknamed the White Knights, Rick Cannon has known the Department of Defense was developing self-steering bullets. Rick feared these smart bullets -- which have one hundred percent accuracy that can turn even a novice into a lethal sniper -- would eventually end up in the hands of the wrong people. But since the ammunition was still in the development stage, he figured they had plenty of time before that happened. He was wrong. Dead wrong.

Until they become reality.

When a homeless vet is killed with a smart bullet, it's clear that the ammunition has been stolen, and the Knights are called in to find the thief and stop the killings. But they aren't the only ones desperate to find the killer. Therapist Olivia Dobbs is well known for her success in counseling military veterans with PTSD. When she discovers one of her clients moments after he is murdered, she becomes both the FBI's prime witness, and suspect.

Despite the mutual attraction that immediately sparks between them, Rick can't -- no he won't -- let Olivia interfere with his investigation. But when the sniper trains his rifle on her, Rick must recall all the skills he learned as a Marine sniper to make sure the next bullet fired isn't a kill shot that takes Olivia out.

Love the mystery, suspense and surprises found in this book. This is book two in the White Knights series. Even though it is a stand alone book, you miss some of the information on sub characters if you jump right into this one, but you can. Rick Cannon is a tough former (if there really is such a thing) Marine. He is part of the elite White Knights crew. He likes to keep his personal life to himself and hide any feelings he may have from everyone, even if that mean he does not have many close friends. Oliva Dobbs is a loving psychologist, even though she has issues with her family she must deal with, she is a great psychologist. When she suddenly becomes a suspect/target to a crime Rick must protect her, interrogate her and try not to fall in love with her. If you enjoy FBI type suspenseful mysteries with added romance you will love this book. Sleeman is one of my favorite suspense romance writers.

Ms Sleeman once again gives us a story that grabs you from the start. This is a Christian suspense romance, with the emphasis on the suspense. The main characters are FBI weapons expert, Rick Cannon and Olivia Dobbs, a therapist specializing in vets with PTSD. Both are strong, independent individuals. The plot is engaging and it’s obvious that the author did extensive research on self-steering bullets. That alone was an education. As others review the plot extensively, I will go a different route. What I appreciated most was the author’s insightfulness in the fact that our experiences as children and how we are treated by the adults we trust will in fact affect who we become as adults. Those past experiences, hurts, lack of attention , feelings of worthlessness, are ingrained in our personalities. Invisible walls are built to protect ourselves, and only we can take them down , become happy, and lead a peaceful life. I also appreciated the fact that Ms Sleeman highlights the recurrence of PTSD on the returning troops. We , as a society, need to do more to help those brave men and women who sacrifice their lives to keep us safe. A need also exist to support their families. So, kudos to the author . I was gifted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This was such a good book. Sleeman had me on the edge of my seat and I had no clue what would happen next. Unraveling the tangled web of murders and thefts kept me turning page after page until I was up too late. Kill Shot is the second book in the White Knights Series. I knew after reading the first book that I had to read them all. I love getting to know the White Knights more, and can’t wait to see who’s in the next book. The White Knights are a group of teammates that specialize in the tough cases. In this book they are brought in to find out who stole a top secret weapon, and to do so before more people are killed with it. Rick is the ballistics expert, and what he’s seeing is a nightmare come true. Self steering sniper bullets can make anyone an expert marksman. If this technology gets into the wrong hands it could mean the end of nations. The first victim was a veteran, which shows that the killer isn’t all that patriotic. The team must race against time to stop this crime spree before it’s too late. Olivia gets under Ricks skin, and he doesn’t want that to happen. Not only is he not ready for a relationship, but the timing couldn’t be worse. Is she connected to the killer? Is she now a target because of those connections? I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense. There was just the right amount of each in this book, and I couldn’t put it down. I found myself questioning motives, and who could do such a thing. I received a copy of this book from FaithWords publishing and was in no way forced to post a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
