About this ebook

A nightmare come true . . .

Years ago, a fifteen-year-old girl was abducted by a monster. Although she managed to escape, her tormenter was never caught. So the girl was given a new home, a new name . . . and the determination to save other foster kids from suffering similar horrors.

FBI Agent Becca Lange is in the middle of a credit card fraud investigation when she's faced with her worst nightmare: a serial killer, van Gogh--given the name because he removed his victims' ears--has resurfaced. Back in the nineties, van Gogh tortured, then killed several young foster girls. Becca was almost one of them.

Over the years, Becca's been keeping her own investigation going. So when the police come to her for help, she's more than ready to do what it takes to put van Gogh behind bars--even if it means working with Connor Warren, the easy-going cop whose attentions she's been avoiding. Connor is too charming, too good-looking, too . . . tempting. He makes Becca want things she can never have. And might never have . . .

Because van Gogh isn't finished with Becca yet. He's been searching for her all these years. And now that he's found her, he's got a plan to keep her . . . forever.

This is book three in the Agents Under Fire series, even though they are all stand alone books it is a great series all the way through and you get a little history about the characters throughout the series. Susan Sleeman does a great job at getting your interest from the beginning and keeping it all the way through her suspense, mystery, FBI type books. Her characters face very real problems and the task force is very realistic. This novel may contain material not for every age group, however Sleeman does a great job at describing a gruesome scene and letting you know what happens with out getting to graphic. FBI agent Becca Lange has a mind of her own, and likes doing things her own way. When she must work with Connor again will the sparks continue to fly or will she be able to stay aloof and professional. She has secrets of her own and when they come back to haunt her will she be able to solve this crime or is it more than she can handle. PPD detective Connor Warren knows he has feelings for Becca, but she has made it clear they are to remain professional. He is a free spirit where she is organized and distant. Can her get past her defenses before her past drags her down. If you enjoy reading good, clean, FBI, mystery, suspense books with a dash of romance you will love this novel. I was given a copy of this novel from the author for my honest opinion.
