Intended to cater to the needs of undergraduate students in mechanical, production, and industrial engineering disciplines, this book provides a comprehensive coverage of the fundamentals of analysis and synthesis (kinematic and dynamic) of mechanisms and machines. It clearly describes the techniques needed to test the suitability of a mechanical system for a given task and to develop a mechanism or machine according to the given specifications. The text develops, in addition, a strong understanding of the kinematics of mechanisms and discusses various types of mechanisms such as cam-and-follower, gears, gear trains and gyroscope.

SHARMA, C. S. C. S.SHARMA, Ph.D., formerly Professor (Mechanical Engineering), Jai Narain Vyas University (JNVS), Jodhpur, has had a brilliant academic career spanning 38 years. Prior to retirement, he was the Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering for eight years and Dean, Faculty of Engineering for two years. Dr. Sharma has guided more than 50 M.Tech dissertations and seven Doctoral theses. He has to his credit more than 75 research papers published in reputed journals. PUROHIT, KAMLESH KAMLESH PUROHIT, Ph.D., is Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur. He has over 20 years academic experience. His areas of research interest include CAD/CAM and Finite Element Analysis. He has published 15 papers in various reputed journals.
