The famous British economist Alfred Marshall (1842 to 1924) contributed significantly to the subject. He thoroughly examined how supply, demand, and prices work in markets, studied how sensitive consumers and firms are to price changes, and explained how markets reach a balance. This book contains four important works by Marshall: "The Economics of Industry" (1879, co-authored with Mary Paley Marshall), "Principles of Economics" (1890), "Industry and Trade" (1919), and "Money, Credit, and Commerce" (1923). These books helped shape the discipline and served as foundational texts for generations of economists and students. "Principles of Economics" was especially influential.

However, the texts need updating to be more understandable and relevant for today's readers. This new book aims to keep the core ideas of Marshall's works while making them more concise and clear by modern standards.
