This short but so intriguing shifter romance is about a young single mother (Penelope aka Penny) & her sweet three year old daughter (Caroline) battling to survive after her ex (Lucius) leaves her with a huge amount of debt, a bounty hunter (Decker Allen) comes look for Lucius & discovers that Penny is his mate & from here the story begins. The plot is suspenseful & entertaining with likable, well-developed characters. There is: a bounty hunter & jaguar shifter (Decker Allen), a overworked but feisty human female (Penny), mild twists, intrigue, danger, enemies, some violence, conflict, attacks, attractions, choices, declarations, love, a little steam, happiness & a satisfying ending. I enjoyed reading this shifter romance novella & would recommend it.

I so admired Penny for the choices she made and her dedication to bettering not only her own life but the life of her daughter. The hours she put in are enough to exhaust me just reading about them but she does what she needs to in order to keep her head above water. When Decker comes around to locate her no-good ex it turns out he isn't the only one and Decker will have his work cut out for him keeping his mate safe and fulfilling his obligations to his boss. Great characters and a story that has a bit of everything wonderful in it. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Penny is a single mother of a 3-year-old daughter, Caroline, and works at a diner to support the two of them. Her irresponsible ex, Lucius Manning, walked out on them, leaving Penny in debt and on her own. When a hired bounty hunter, jaguar shifter Decker Allan, walks into the diner in his search for Manning, he discovers that the human woman, Penny, is actually his mate! When other dangerous men come after her to find out where her ex is hiding, Decker must rescue her and keep Penny and her child safe. Can he explain what’s happening to Penny, that she is his mate? Can she trust him? This is such a good series of books! Every story is a new adventure and something to look forward to! This one has a good story line, filled with suspense and danger to keep the reader fully engaged. The main characters are very likable and the reader will find it easy to care about their safety. Grab your copy and see what Decker is able to do to salvage this situation and to help Penny accept him into her heart.
