Because I never liked unspeakable horrors, where all turns to ash, brim and madness. But a fellow iO9 reader recommended me the book and I began to read it... and I couldn't stop and he was right, it is good. There is strength in these words and the world is now afraid, afraid of color of skin and religion and now more than ever is the time for a story like this. You will understand this if you read it. Lavalle is a force to be reckoned. Do yourself a favor and buy this story you won't regret it, I didn't.
Acerca del autor
Victor LaValle is the author of the short story collection Slapboxing with Jesus, several novels, including The Ecstatic, Big Machine, and The Devil in Silver, and an ebook-only novella, Lucretia and the Kroons.
He has been the recipient of numerous awards including a Whiting Writers' Award, a United States Artists Ford Fellowship, a Guggenheim Fellowship and the key to Southeast Queens.
He was raised in Queens, New York. He now lives in Washington Heights with his wife and son. He teaches at Columbia University.
