About this ebook

In this gripping page-turner, an ex-agent on the run from her former employers must take one more case to clear her name and save her life.

She used to work for the U.S. government, but very few people ever knew that. An expert in her field, she was one of the darkest secrets of an agency so clandestine it doesn't even have a name. And when they decided she was a liability, they came for her without warning.

Now she rarely stays in the same place or uses the same name for long. They've killed the only other person she trusted, but something she knows still poses a threat. They want her dead, and soon. When her former handler offers her a way out, she realizes it's her only chance to erase the giant target on her back. But it means taking one last job for her ex-employers.

To her horror, the information she acquires only makes her situation more dangerous. Resolving to meet the threat head-on, she prepares for the toughest fight of her life but finds herself falling for a man who can only complicate her likelihood of survival. As she sees her choices being rapidly whittled down, she must apply her unique talents in ways she never dreamed of.

In this tautly plotted novel, Meyer creates a fierce and fascinating new heroine with a very specialized skill set. And she shows once again why she's one of the world's bestselling authors.

Stephenie Meyer should DEFINITELY stick to vampires and werewolves. Even better if she kept writing for the twilight series, but she's too much of a DIVA now to do that. She's SO ungrateful for her fans, and the fact that she's punishing us for SOMEONE ELSE leaking the unfinished copy of "Midnight Sun" by not writing anymore twilight books? That just shows how stuck up and spoiled she's become, not to mention how childish she is. SHE'S UNGRATEFUL FOR HER FANS, AND HAS EVEN BEEN KNOWN TO SAY SHE HATES AND/OR DESPISES US AND IS "SICK OF US BOTHERING HER AND INCONVENIENCING HER LIFE". SHE'S SO UNDESERVING and anyone who buys even one of her new books is only helping her to continue to spit in our faces and treat us like poo stuck to the bottom of her "self proclaimed princess" shoes. She doesn't deserve us y'all... Stop giving her book sales or ANY kind of support. At least until she apologizes to her fans for the whole twilight and midnight sun debacle, and ESPECIALLY until she apologizes for all of the intensely CRUEL things she has said about her twilight fans. She made an OBSCENE amount of money off of us all, between the twilight books and movies, and now she's living like the "celebrity" she THINKS she is. She needs to be knocked down off that high horse she's been straddling for far too long now. And until that happens, I, and everyone I know, have boycotted Stephenie Meyer, and everything she has a hand in, be it writing a new weird book like this chemist one, or "directing" a movie. Pah-lease. I will not give her another cent of my hard earned money until she's issued us ALL one serious, HONEST and truly heart felt apology. Even the actors from the movies can't stand her, and her twilight books gave a lot of them a jump start to their careers and made some of them VERY rich, but they STILL don't like her? Hmm. I wonder WHY that is... I think it's time WE ALL get on board with them and the boycott of all things Stephenie Meyer.

Stephanie Meyer brought it with this book! Was surprised to be out of the realm of vampires and werewolves into the world of the underbelly of American politics and the CIA... and other unknown intelligence organizations. If you like Scandal, House of Cards, John Grisham, or David Baldacci, you'll like this! It was well researched and realistic. Highly recommend!

This book takes a long time to get mildly intriguing. There's way too much writing on the heroine's thought process and at times it got boring. The love story seemed unlikely and very flat. Not romantic at all.
