In the early twentieth century, the work of Albert Schweitzer brought historical Jesus research to a close. This was re-invigorated by Ernst Ksemann and the New Quest for the Historical Jesus. But that project reached its limitations as well. This research has been renewed in what has been called the "Third Quest." In this volume, N. T.
