I struggle with the words to adequately describe why this book, and series, is so fun without spoiling too much for potential readers. All I can say is that it's worth it. These characters are fun, you'll love them, hate them, and feel for them all.

The first book hooked me when I was out of cash and looking for a free read. So once I got paid I dove right into this and any time I wasn't reading it I'd still be thinking of the brothers Tun. I have always loved dark fantasy. Knights in silver armor and villains who kick puppies are a dime a dozen. Whether the Tuns are heroes or villains is hard to decipher because they are each complex and individual from any sort of stereotypical set role.

I've been really enjoying the series and David Dalglish's work - the Paladin series blew me away. I do have to say that I felt like this book was a bit of a weaker entry in some places. Personally I felt that Tessanna was not very compelling of a character (there is such a thing as being TOO tragic imo), and I also felt that the gore was a bit too much in this book (not in the sense that it offended me, more in the sense that the stakes didn't feel as high or impactful because having someone explode into blood is just a normal thing that happens). That being said, the whole book works towards setting up a very interesting contrast between the two brothers, and I was definitely invested in the Eschaton crew. If you just push through the weaker moments, the stronger moments WILL blow you away
