England 1818 From the very first page, I felt I was seeing this story unfold in my mind with Lara's wonderful pen that creates such sensitive characters and historical atmosphere. She had made a life for herself, even though her mother had shunned her and wanted her nowhere near. But when her sister requests she come and meet her betrothed, Lily knows she will go to support her. Marcus, Lord Shelton knew it was time to marry and had chosen Lily's sister, although it was not a love match for either of them, he did respect her. What he never expected was Lily. A story of the heart that unfolded slowly, this goes of my favorite books this year list. As a side note, I wish I could have given the mother a thorough thrashing!

This forbidden love story made my heart pound from the very first encounter between Lily and Marcus, Lord Sherbourne to the last. Such a beautiful plot! I must admit that Lara Temple’s writing has bewitched me. It is truly wonderful read!
