I'm not a fan of the magical numbers that some of these diet books put out there (35, 60/30/10, 0, etc.) and this book's 35 grams of fiber is yet another gimmick that is supposed to give you all that you want in an eating plan. This is, however, a pretty good gimmick. I can't go on enough about how beneficial fiber is for your health (and Brenda is with me)- more fiber= lower caloric density, better digestive health, and better energy balance.
Though the high fiber diet has been given to us before (The Pritikin Principle and The Evolution Diet's LoS Hi-Fi foods are two that come to mind off the top), Brenda gives us a new twist- you don't have to cut back on anything to lose weight, you just need to ADD fiber. This makes sense and will work- our bodies aren't designed to digest fiber and the added mass in our guts gives us satiety.
High fiber is just one aspect of good health, and though Brenda does encourage exercise in addition, there are other things that she could add that make up a perfect diet.
