As in most African American families, spirituality was the foundation for living a selfless existence. But at some point, we all realize we are selfish and want our egos stroked.
This book illustrated how siblings raised by the same parents had similar yet different outcomes. In the early 1920s–1960s, African Americans were striving for their piece of the American pie.
