 The author is a professional speaker and health coach. She works with many individuals and groups to help show them how to attain a healthy lifestyle, combining diet and a whole lifestyle plan to feel better, look better, and live better! This includes everything from helping them choose a healthy way of eating to discovering how to use “downtime” to improve their feeling of well-being.

She completed studies for a degree in chemical engineering at UCLA, where she met and married her husband James. Following that, she accepted an internship in India. Unfortunately, she was forced to return to the United States shortly after for treatment of her diabetes, which had been progressively worsening. Her health had deteriorated, and she was always tired. Like many others, she has struggled with weight problems since childhood; in addition, she has had to combat the symptoms and problems of diabetes. Also like many of us, she has tried many different diets and exercise programs, with varying degrees of success.

She began to research and try different diets in the hope of increasing her energy and feeling better. One of those diets was the Paleo diet, and since trying it, she has never looked back. There is a simple principle behind the Paleo diet. Many of the health problems we suffer from today result from a mismatch between the foods we eat and the natural diet that our bodies are meant to use. When we return to a natural diet, rich in fruits, vegetables, nuts, and natural meat, the food we eat no longer makes us sick, but rather provides us with the means to live a strong, vibrant, and energetic lifestyle. Today, the author is the picture of health and wellness, participates in triathlons and frequently gives talks on the subject of how the Paleo diet impacts sports fitness and emotional health. Her personal experiences help her audience relate to her easily, and the impact of the changes she has made gives hope to others that it can work for them as well.

Recently, she has spent three months with the San people of the Kalahari Desert, hoping to discover the secrets of their endurance and stamina in hot desert conditions. The San people hunt for their meat and forage for fruit, nuts, and roots to supplement their diet; the diet and lifestyle which they follow allows them to survive in an extremely inhospitable environment. They are thought to be the oldest inhabitants of South Africa, having been there for over 100,000 years. They have always followed a nomadic lifestyle, and have never been known to cultivate crops.

The author grew up in Southern California, and now lives in Hawaii with her husband, three children, two dogs, and a pet Boa Constrictor. She believes that keeping things simple, we can achieve so much more. This has certainly worked for her! She now concentrates on teaching and sharing with others what she has learned through research, travels, and personal experience.
