Tim Brown introduces this book with a mind map which looks confusing at the first glance but after reading the book one can easily deconstruct all the ideas and concepts that Tim is trying to explain through the mind map. This task of condensing the thoughts in a mind map is one of many tenets of design thinking. This book elegantly explains the design thinking ideology through various case studies from different domains ranging from airport security checkup to organisational re-structuring to launching a new product for a well established brand. After reading the book, I can say that design thinking is an essential skill for the 21st century as this methodology of doing things creates space for more innovation which is an important facet in our information era.

The open format (literally read from any starting point), the breadth of cases, and the in depth effort to explain 'design thinking' make this a fantastic text book for an intro course for the novice non-designer who wants to understand what 'design' is all about.

I enjoy this book every time I read it and each time I get something new out of it, not because I missed something but rather because I have new information that I bring to my interpretation of it. I'm only giving it 4 stars as it needs updating, revisions and invitation of Tim's new learnings. It needs to be itterated.
