About the author

Walter St. John is a semiretired writer with managerial experience in both the private and public sectors and as an officer in the U.S. Army. His career includes being an executive with the Hershey Corporation, the National Food Trade Association, an assistant superintendent of schools, and an assistant vice-chancellor of a state university. His education includes a BA degree in speech and communication, a master’s degree in political science from the University of Arizona, and his doctorate in management and counseling.

Ben Haskell retired in 2014 after serving for 26 years as executive vice president and academic dean of the New England School of Communications in Bangor, Maine. A graduate of the University of Maine, he received a BA in speech communications and later his master’s degree in business from Husson University. After college, Ben served as an officer in the U.S. Army with a duty in Vietnam. His professional career began in Maine with 17 years as staff announcer and program director of two radio stations in the city of Ellsworth. Ben was also instrumental in helping NESCom grow from a small proprietary school to a four-year degree-granting institution offering three BS degrees in eight different areas of study.
