In the eleven years since her mate died, Leonora has immersed herself in teaching the Great North Pack how to deal with humans, the new apex predators. She doesn't even have time for her oldest friend, Sten, the huge, terse and terrifying head of Carpentry. Now, with an encroaching storm and a disastrous attempt to introduce wolflings to the peculiarities of human holidays, their Adirondack Homelands seems to be conspiring to bring Sten and Leonora back together.

Maria Vale is a journalist who has worked for Publishers Weekly, Glamour, Redbook and the Philadelphia Inquirer. She's a double-Rita finalist whose paranormal romance series--The Last Wolf, A Wolf Apart, Forever Wolf, Season of the Wolf & the upcoming Wolf in the Shadows--have been chosen by Amazon, Library Journal, Publishers Weekly, ALA Booklist, Kirkus and BookPage as Best Books of the Year. Trained as a medievalist, she persists in trying to shoehorn the language of Beowulf into things that don't really need it. She lives in New York City with her husband and two kids.
