Published in 1845, Emily Bronte’s gothic novel set on the windy moors of Yorkshire is the story of the doomed love between Catherine Earnshaw and her father’s adopted son, Heathcliff. The book was initially poorly received by many critics who found its dark, tragic story needlessly harsh and disturbing. That opinion has not endured, and the only novel Emily Bronte published is now considered to be one of the great classics of English literature.

This a story about love, but it is some kind of obsessive love that can never be fulfilled, he, Heathcliff, leaves Wuthering Heights and she, Catherine, dies, but ttheir love story does not end with her death...

Sister of literary lions Charlotte and Anne, Emily Bronte published Wuthering Heights, her only novel, a year before she died. By all accounts Emily was a brilliant but sensitive and shy young woman who maintained intimate friendships with very few people beyond her immediate family. Although some evidence suggests that she may have been working on a second novel at the time of her death at age 30 in 1848, no manuscript has been found.
