About this ebook

Jackson ”Jax” Caruso inherited a ship from his parents.

They’re dead, they don’t need it.

The unification wars happened a while ago, Jax’s parent’s fought for the losing side. Now he takes the jobs he can get; smuggling, bounty hunting, hauling cargo. If it pays, he’ll do it.

When Jax is approached with a job that seems too good to be true, he should have known better, he should have walked.

He didn’t.

Now he and a few friends are in it deep; Imperial entanglements are the least of their concerns with organized crime on their tails.

Will Jax and his friends finish the job without getting caught, or killed? Only one way to find out!

I always enjoy John Wilker's books. He never disappoints, always giving his readers a thunderous, exciting read. I am particularly impressed with his characters. He makes them into fallible people with all the foibles, vices and failings of ordinary beings that anyone can relate to, no saints or knight errants. This book kept me on edge throughout, Jax the main character was plausible, and I could empathise and relate to him. I liked his "human" depiction of the droid and the SI so much so that I want them for myself. One minor point, I'd like to some sort of plan or specs for the ship, like he's provided for the Ghost in his Space Rogue series. I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves SF of the freebooting, privateer kind.
