About the author

TOM PEASE has owned an office equipment dealership called e/Doc Systems Inc. in Memphis, TN., for the past 29 years and counting. Other business ownership positions have included a full line Kawasaki dealership as well as a document shop. He is an accredited small business consultant. Tom, 59, graduated from the University of Tennessee Knoxville with a B.S. in Communications. His next stop was two years in the Navy aboard the USS Newport 1179. He worked for IBM six years winning local and national sales awards. In 1981 he and two others formed the business he still operates. In 1994 he won the Memphis Business Journal’s Small Business Executive of the Year. He is a member of St. Ann Catholic church and founded the Kenny Dolan Memorial Scholarship Fund there now in its 14th year. Tom and his wife Cindy have been married 34 years. They have two children, Parker and Lacey. Th eir home is on 70 acres of land with dogs Pete and Sam, Dusty the family donkey, Chief a paint horse, Woody the beaver and other assorted wildlife. Among his prized possessions are his Caterpillar bulldozer and Kubota tractor.
