About this ebook

A USA Today Bestseller!

A brooding covert operative and a spunky CIA agent discover a burning passion in the next installment of Julie Ann Walker's red-hot BKI series

Dagan Zoelner has made three huge mistakes

The first two left blood on his hands.

The third left him wondering...what if? What if he had told the woman of his dreams how he felt before his world fell apart?

Spitfire CIA agent Chelsea Duvall has always had a thing for bossy, brooding Dagan. It's just as well that he's never given her a second look, since she carries a combustible secret about his past that threatens to torch their lives...

"The heat between the hero and heroine is hotter than a firecracker lit on both ends... Readers are in for one hell of ride!" —RT Book Reviews for Hell for Leather 41⁄2 Stars

***3 Stars*** As much as I was looking forward to finally getting the 411 on Dagan and seeing him and Chelsea finally come together, this book just didn’t really do it for me. I simply liked it. There were some great scenes peppered throughout the book and I liked where the whole Spider storyline was at in the end, but there were also a few little things that just didn’t work for me and in the end I just never got fully invested in the journey like I wanted to. Despite my tepid feelings, I did like Dagan and Chelsea. I liked getting inside Dagan’s head and learning about the events in his past that led him to BKI. He’s all kinds of protective alpha male, who tends to put his foot in his mouth, but means well in the end. Chelsea was one tough cookie. She was put through the ringer and came out stronger for it. I loved her sass and her loyalty to her family. Their journey to their HEA was filled with quite a few bumps in the road and the angsty-ness was kicked up a notch as they dealt with their feelings towards the other, what they thought they wanted for their futures and that big ‘ole secret Chelsea had in regards to Dagan. That secret and it’s unveiling was a big one, but I understood both sides reactions and liked how things worked out for them in the end. I really wanted to love this one, but it just didn’t turn out that way. I still loved the bantering between the characters, Ace I absolutely adored, but one of my ‘issues’ was the use of slang and homegrown sayings throughout the book. I honestly felt like it was too much. I totally understand how those little details can give depth to a character and give the reader a good feel for who they are and where they came from, but after awhile it was just a bit too much for me. I’m hoping this was just one of those “It’s not you, it’s me” things and that Hot Pursuit, Christian and Emily’s book, will do for me what this one didn’t. ~ Copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley & voluntarily reviewed ~

We start this book over in England, with BKI member's we haven't spent a lot of time with, but they've been around. By the end of the story, we have we have a new character and two more couples lined to take the fall Dagan has always been around, hasn't he? It seems like he was there, the good guy, a bad guy, a reformed guy, drinking buddy, and all around staple in the story. His story wasn't going to be simple, because the man himself has never been simple. He doesn't realize that though, he thinks, once he decides, that it should be simple. Life rarely goes according to his plan, so I'm not sure why he is shocked with the twists and turns that happen Chelsea is so sassy sweet, you want to cheer for her while you are giving her a hug. She has her own internal battles when it comes to Dagan, and the darn man wants everything so simple. She knows it is complicated, and needs to let him. When things finally are complicated, her worst fears come true, but she won't give up. Her strength doesn't let her lose all hope, and has her dealing with her stubborn man While all this internal stuff is happening, and a relationship struggling and developing, it is BKI, so people are trying to hunt then down and harm them. Really, really, bad people want Chelsea, and her crew of protectors There is a lot of action and emotion, the sparks between Dagan and Chelsea are red hot, and we move further into an on-going saga with the big bad. Not much checking with the others, but Becky and Ozzie have a brief appearance. It was once again a 'read for a bit' turned into 'read until done' book that I absolutely loved!
