About this ebook

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • THE BOOK BEHIND THE FIFTH SEASON OF THE ACCLAIMED HBO SERIES GAME OF THRONES

NAMED ONE OF PASTE’S BEST FANTASY BOOKS OF THE DECADE

Here is the fifth book in the landmark series that has redefined imaginative fiction and become a modern masterpiece in the making.

A DANCE WITH DRAGONS

In the aftermath of a colossal battle, Daenerys Targaryen rules with her three dragons as queen of a city built on dust and death. But Daenerys has thousands of enemies, and many have set out to find her. Fleeing from Westeros with a price on his head, Tyrion Lannister, too, is making his way east—with new allies who may not be the ragtag band they seem. And in the frozen north, Jon Snow confronts creatures from beyond the Wall of ice and stone, and powerful foes from within the Night’s Watch. In a time of rising restlessness, the tides of destiny and politics lead a grand cast of outlaws and priests, soldiers and skin-changers, nobles and slaves, to the greatest dance of all.

Each adventure of George R. R. Martin's creative mind put to paper, makes it easy to fall into the story & actually feel as though you are a spy watching it all unfold. His books NEVER let you leave the edge of your seat waiting for each new twist to surprise you. A gifted writer in every tale he publishes. The Dance With Dragons is certainly a brilliant extension of the Song of Fire & Ice series & ends with many unresolved questions, leaving me starved for more. I hope beyond measure there is more ahead!

While I love the Song of Ice and Fire, this book was a little disappointing, as it felt like a lot of story filler. Storylines moved forward, but not at the pace of the last books. There are some great gems if you don't get to bogged down by the advancing of storylines.

Dance is a great book which manages to overcome a lot of what was going against it. George does an amazing job of building a detailed and intruiging world. Some may be disappointed by it's lack of a proper climax, but given how fantastic the build up has been, I can't wait for the Battles of Ice and Fire in the Winds of Winter.
