About this ebook

She was in love with her brother's best friend. He broke her heart. Time heals…but is it enough for a second chance?

It's been eight years since Marissa had her heart broken by her teenage crush who just happened to be her brother's best friend. She'd been so sure he'd felt the same…but his humiliating laughter still echoes in her mind.

Nick hasn't been able to stop thinking about what could have been all those years ago if only he'd followed his heart the night Marissa confessed her love. But the timing had been right, and there was the guy code. He couldn’t date his best friend's little sister—ever.

Now her brother is getting married, and with both of them in the wedding party, Marissa won't be able to avoid Nick for much longer. But she has no reason to be nervous. After all, she's no longer an uncertain teenager and those feelings are long gone—or are they?

I loved this story from Elena Aitken's Castle Mountain Lodge series! Marissa Duncan has loved Nick Slater since she was a young girl, but Nick broke her heart the night she finally got up enough courage to tell him and all he did was laugh in her face. Little did she know that he was only trying to cover up the fact that he's had feelings for her also. Feelings that he could never act on because she was his best friend's little sister. Years later they find themselves working together as best man and maid of honor at her brother's wedding. Working this closely has brought up all of their old feelings and this time Nick isn't going to deny his feelings because Marissa is all grown up and the code between friends doesn't count now. I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

This is a sweet, clean romance that is heartfelt, touching and finally heartwarming. Our main characters are Marissa Duncan and Nick Slater. Nick has been her brother’s best friend as long as she can remember and she has been in love with him since her teen years. On the day she graduates from HS, she decides to express her love and kisses him. But he devastates her by his rejection . Fast forward to eight years later . Her brother Jake, is getting married and Nick is his best man and she the maid of honor. When they come face to face old feelings surface. Will they get a second chance? Does he even have feelings for her ? And if he does, will he choose Jake’s friendship and his love for her family, or Marissa, or can he have all three? It’s a fast paced story, with a well developed plot . Though it’s part of a series, it is truly a stand alone. I was gited this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Promised Gifts is a refreshing and enchanting novella. Two people meant for each other are kept apart by the age old adage, “not with my sister” no matter what her age. Marissa Duncan once had a crazy ma crush on Nick Slater. They were both in high school, he her senior by two years, and he was her brother’s best friend. Nick lived by the “stay away from my sister” mantra even though he had feelings for Marissa. When she finally and bravely admitted her love for him, Nick turned her down in a humiliating way and tore her heart apart. Five years later, they come face to face at her brother’s wedding. All the feelings Nick has been harboring come to the surface when he sees Marissa. It’s finally time for Nick to take the reins and go after Marissa. She is not too sure about it.
